The Great Migration

It’s the annual migration of around 2,900 km of more than 2 million animals relocating from Tanzania to Kenya. You can see the life-cycle of these animals, from giving birth to the mating season, and also their struggle for survival.

January to March

Lobo Hill and Nabi Hill

The migration commences in January, starting of rainy season. The female wildebeest at this time, are almost ready to give birth.

Ndutu Lake

The migration at the Southern Serengeti plains is in full trigger, thanks to the mild rainfall. The location is said to be one of the favorites of filmmakers.

Kusini and Maswa

See the one-month calves being fed and roaming around. There are many mobile camps that will guide you to search the herds.

April - May

Moru Kopjes

You’ll see rare black rhinos at the western side of the national park. Along with the migration, admire the Gong Rock and Masai Rock paintings.

Lake Magadi

Magadi is a regular water hole for all the animals. Enjoy Balloon safari over the lake shore and spot pink flamingos, golden jackals and many other animals.

June - July

Grumeti River

Watch the animals and crocodiles playing ‘survival of the fittest'. From mid-July, the animals move to Mara River, when the mating season starts.

August - October

Mara River

By crossing the Mara River, the herd finally crosses the border of Kenya. The region is famous for predator watching.

Greater Masai Mara

The animals stay at the Greater Masai Mara area till the end of October. Although, some start heading back in the early September.

November - December

The animals return to Central Serengeti, here they get unlimited source of water and food till the next migration season comes.
