Whether the places mentioned here should be included in the list of most beautiful places in the world depends on personal opinions. However, an attempt is made to include a few of the most popular spots to visit.
It is very difficult to pick few spots and rank them as most beautiful places in the world. Our earth has so many spectacular and pristine places that refresh our mind. It wouldn't be fair to rank a naturally attractive place over others, which offer an equally breathtaking view.

Grand Canyon

The length of Grand Canyon is 277 miles and has steep sides along the course of river. The width of this canyon varies between 4 and 18 miles.

The deepest part of this gorge goes down to 6000 feet. The magnificent geological formation of the Grand Canyon is a result of erosion caused by the Colorado river. Watching the different layers created by Colorado river is really a treat to the eyes.

Pyramids of Egypt

The pyramids constructed in Egypt are one of the seven wonders. The pyramid of Khufu or the Great Pyramid of Giza is a construction masterpiece and is the oldest among all the Egyptian pyramids.
The base of this pyramid is around 393,040 sq. feet. It means that an area of 9 acres is covered by this huge monument. The Pyramid of Khufu and two other structures adjoining it altogether provide a wonderful view.

Niagara Falls

The Niagara Falls which 'falls' between the boundaries of USA and Canada is one of the natural wonders and offers a great view. It is a popular tourist attraction for people from these countries and also one of the most beautiful places in the world.
The Niagara Falls is separated by the Goat Islands into Horseshoe Falls which is on the Canadian side and American Falls that lies on the side of USA.

Amazon Rainforest

The Amazon rainforest in South America accounts for more than half of the area covered by rainforests on earth. This rainforest spreads in nine countries of South America, however, its largest portion (60%) falls in Brazil.
The other eight nations are Peru, Columbia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Guyana, Bolivia, French Guyana, and Suriname. The Amazon rainforest is spread in a total area of 7 million sq. km. The forest is known for its rich biodiversity.

Gomateshwara, Shravanabelagola

A place called Shravanabelagola located in Karnataka state of India has the world's most beautiful and biggest monolith statue. Carved out of a single rock of fine-grained white granite, the 17.8 m. statue of Gomateshwara is situated atop a hill called Chandragiri. 
It is a nude statue of Bahubali (Gomateshwara), son of the first Tirthankar, Bhagwan Adinath. The beauty of this monolith lies in the serene and calm expression on the face.
Creating such a amazing piece of sculpture might have required great efforts. Chamundaraya, the commander and minister of Ganga dynasty is credited with building (carving out) this statue in the 10th century.

Taj Mahal

It is a mausoleum built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan as a symbol of love in the memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The mausoleum is located in the Indian city of Agra and on the banks of Yamuna river.
The Taj Mahal was declared as a World Heritage site in 1983 by UNESCO and has seen the confluence of the Indian, Islamic, and Persian styles of architecture. It was built in a span of 21 years (1632-1653) in white marble, and one must visit this wonderful place.

Great Wall of China

The Great Wall of China is one of the seven wonders of the world and also a construction marvel. This wall stretches from Lop Nur (west) to Shanhaiguan (east). The total length of the wall as per the measurements made recently is said to be 8851.8 km.
It is interesting to note that the actual wall of Great Wall of China is 6259.6 km while the trenches (359.7 km) and natural defensive barriers (2232.5 km) form the remaining part. The purpose of building such a long wall was preventing the entry of nomadic groups in the Chinese territory.

Great Barrier Reef

It is a reef system found in Australia that stretches 2600 km long and is biggest in the world with 900 islands and 2900 reefs. Coral polyps are the tiny creatures which constitute the structure of Great Barrier Reef. Owing to the natural diversity that is supported by the reef, it was declared as a World Heritage Site in the year 1981.
The Cairns regions and Whitsunday islands of the Great Barrier Reef attract lots of tourists. The reef has great spiritual significance from the point of Torres Strait Islanders and Aboriginal Australian people.

Stora Sjofallet National Park

This national park of Sweden falls in the Laponian area. Declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Stora Sjofallet National Park covers a total area of 1278 sq. km.
The northwestern part of the park lies in Scandinavian mountains; the Akkajaure hydroelectric reservoir divides this park into two parts.
